Volusia County School Board Class Action Lawsuit
The School Board of Volusia County, Florida faces a proposed class action in the wake of a U.S. Justice Department investigation that found the school district had discriminated against students with disabilities by denying them equal access to certain programs and services.
Attorney Jason Harr of Daytona Beach filed the lawsuit on Wednesday in federal court in Orlando on behalf of Kimberly Powell, whose son has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum. No other parents or autistic children are part of the lawsuit as of now, but Harr said other parents have contacted him
The Harr Law Firm wants to make sure those families affected are given the opportunity to join this class action so their kids that were subjected to this discriminatory practice have the monetary resources to get better and to be successful in life. That is all we want for any child.
